Why you SHOULD start your fitness journey this Winter. Get ahead for 2024.
If you came to this blog via Linked In then I'm sorry I lied. There's not really a good reason not to start exercising in Winter. You and I both know what the voice in your head is saying. "Leave it until after Christmas, when the Spring comes, I'll get out and be more active". It's dark early, cold and downright freezing some days. There might be snow as well. They seem like fine reasons to stay in and cosy up. What we also know is how sluggish we can feel come January, not to mention the guilt of not doing much over the Winter. Shall we just break that cycle so we can enjoy every bit of the year? Let's look at 5 reasons, then book a session to get you started.
Start Indoors:
You don't have to go outside or have a lot of space to start working out. It's not the poorer alternative, on good days go out, on inclement days have a prerecorded workout or set of exercises specific for your goals ready. Need help with exercise selections to do at home? Brisk as in Brrr and brisk as in fast.
Some of your workouts could just be a brisk walk outside, perhaps consider walking instead of taking the car. Walking is an excellent and beginner-friendly form of exercise that can be adapted to winter conditions. Bundle up in layers, invest in good winter footwear, and take brisk walks to a warm coffee or book shop.
Channel your inner Eddie the Eagle.

When was the last time you built a snowman? Rolling a giant snowman and pushing it into place is hard work! Who says kids have to have all the sledging and snowball fighting fun? Sometimes I drag my kids along just to have some weight to push and pull!

You're not going to be running miles cross country in this weather unless you really want to, but you could aim to enter 2024 feeling fitter than last year.
